    Default Reelfoot advice

From Springfield, Mo and have heard stories about Rf crappie? When in the spring or late winter is the best time and where should I go? Need a recommendation for lodging as well. I have a 20 ft Lund ProV ....is this too big of a boat for that lake? The photos I have seen all show small boats? Thanks for your advice in advance. Pop

Hey Hillbilly POP, You can use your boat, BUT, be careful and run slow and tilt your motor up as much as you can get by with.
I see big glass bass boats there and they just ease around slow. I have a bass tracker 17 1/2 ft that I use there. A few years ago I tore up a new tm on a stump, so I don't run the tm as deep there anymore.
I think the middle April would be a good time there, but you need to book your rooms now, they all book early.
Hope this helps ya, now go catch a mess. :D

Would you happen to have a second boat that you're not too worried about bouncing off of stumps (what I call a "turd" boat)? If I were you, I'd seriously consider not putting that big ole Lund in Reelfoot. You can bet that you will hit stumps no matter how slow you go. It's definitely great fishing and the scenery is beautiful, though.

Don't worry about the boat. I put my 522 and my brothers 22' Stratos in there all the time. Just dont heller out across there. If its windy you will need a way to slow down your drifts. I use chains or drift socks.

Any time is a good time to catch fish at the foot. Your boat will work fine, but as IwishIdid said, GO SLOW. Fishing this time of the year, you will be in deep open water so you won't have to cram that boat into trees and pads.

Do a little trolling and troll very slow, and watch the pole, some bite so easy the bait doesn't even know its been bit

Go SLOW. I mostly see aluminum boats out there because of the stumps. Use common sense and take your time. Enjoy the place. Watch the mocs though. Even in April they may be out.

I like Eagles Nest awful well they are good folks have nice equipment and put on a heck of a cook out during the week There aren't any bad places to fish in Reelfoot as far as I'm concerned I would use their boats I took mine the first Yr I went there and I took my time and still hit stumps saw one fool light it up and knock the foot off his big motor
