Thread: Springville Resort area

Has anyone been out near Springville Resort area doing and crappie fishing?Was wondering what all has been been happening up in the area.

I haven't been out in a few weeks. All catches I know of have been north of power lines. I haven't seen any shad up in west sandy, so I doubt any crappie hanging out here yet. On warm days when them shad move in west sandy, you can get some good fishes. Todd Miller and I caught some nice fish last year in 3 foot of water. Shad were jumping everywhere. Next day, wind came up. We couldn't get a bite. We went everywhere. Weather cooled down and wind came up and the fish scattered.

Lots of ducks have been taken.

So you been hearing some good duck reports up there also?I got a blind down in the merril field off west sandy ramp.I was going to be up there this morning but didnt want to crawl out of the bed and go.Thought about going to Old Hickory this morning but still getting out of bed was the thing.

I was north of the powerlines on Saturday, and I came home with one stinking fish. It was a good one (around a slab), but I was delayed getting out onto the water because Buchanan's dock along with Mansard island's ramp were both closed.

I caught a bunch of drum that day, but most of the other boats claimed to have caught nothing except for maybe one or two old drum themselves. I think one boat had really good success fishing deeper water in the structure. I'm not sure if they were fishing jigs or minnows, though.

I was up at the Resort last a week ago and there was alot of boats that was just up from the marina that was spider rigging.They looked to be doing pretty good at it they was trolling along and lifting the poles up one after another.I am wanting to try it out up there but aint done it yet.Most the time I am in the area I am duck hunting.But think I will be taking the bass boat with me more and try for the crappie.

Does anyone ever fish the actual structure underneath the powerlines? I also wonder if anyone ever fishes the concrete structure right underneath the 79 bridge as it goes across. I saw some boats around it the other day, and I was wondering if anyone actually fishes that area with any success.
