    Default Woods Report

Went yesterday afternoon for just a little bit. The fish were biting at 15 feet in 22 feet of water over any kind of structure in the main channel. They were slamming it hard and had 19 keepers out of 26 total fish.

Fatboy, I did well on Woods 2 weeks ago. Caught them a little bit more shallow than you, but like you said, they were in any kind of structure.

Are ya'll down close to the dam or close to Morris Ferry? I haven't fished Woods in a long time. With the lower water temps, looks like I need to go south for a while.

volfan, I caught my fish straight out from morris ferry dock. go past the rock bank or road bed and right where the tree line starts, come out from the bank where the channel drops off. Fish that cover in the channel.

I fished from 8pm to 4am. We caught a bunch of 6-7 inch fish and only 4 keepers. I tried both a gas lantern and a 12v halogen light. Shad swarmed better with the lantern. We fished a cut west of the dam and near the pump station. Just wasnt our time I guess. Had fun tho, got to near 60 in wee hours, felt a little chilly, LOL. And no jet skis and rocket boats either. Til next time. Chub

Hunterchub I thought you would have done better than that. How far from Winchester do you live? If I get the time and feel like fighting the heat, I would hook up with you one day and show you some of my holes on woods and how I fish them. If your interested that is. I wish I knew where some boo was close by that the owner did not mind me getting, I would then make some boo piles. I dont know if I'll get to go next week or not, but I'll let you know.

Im about 40 mins from Winchester. We went thru Winchester last night on way to the county boat ramp. Here is a story I forgot to tell. The guy I fished with last night was pulling the anchor. Well it got caught on a stick well the stick broke off and he just kept pulling. We were in 15 feet of water. It was pretty dark last night as the moon was empty. Well that stick come over the side of the boat. He really thought nothing of it at first but as he tried to let it down in the water the stick kept charging him like a snake. I want to tell ya, after the second snake attack I thought he was going in the drink off the other side of boat. 4 am in the morning and I laughed for an hour on way home. Crappieseeker, I would like to hook up and fish with ya. Always nice to learn more about lakes. Right now I return back to work and only have one day off, which is monday, until the following weekend. So keep in touch. Chub
