Cracker, what's the story on the spillway these days?
The story on the spillway is there are a few idiots around the lake that fight anything that the State tries to do. So do not be surprised if the process gets held up by these few and in the mean time the spillway breaks and Reelfoot is no more.![]()
Government does not solve problems; it subsidizes them.

The spillway needs to be repaired or it will fail and drain reelfoot. Those idiots that bandit was talking are holding up the funding to fix it. If we lose reelfoot lake a lot of people will be hurt and out of a way to support their familys a unique lake that will never be again. It will cost taxpayers a lot of money and one of the best crappie fisheries ever. lol
Today is a great day
i'd be willing to come down and fill sand bags if that is what it is going to take. It is a shame what a vital asset that lake is to the area and politics gets in the way. Losing that lake would make the surrounding area dry up with it, that is for sure.

Here crappie, crappie, crappie, crappie......:D :D :D
Buddy of mine that lives near it and fishes it. Told me Yesterday that the water when high was eating under the road there at the spillway . And the road has places that are sinking down some now.
Sure hope the Government does the right thing. And fixes it and tells the ones that are holding it back to take a flying leap.

Do you think there is any way that a private sector could raise the money and work jointly with the state to get it done? The spillway is on state managed lands, so you would think that if it's a $ figure the state is not wanting to spend then there are enough people that love Reelfoot that the money could be raised privatly.
Am I way out of line here?
hmm
could go old school and let reelfoot be the way it was back when it started in 1812
