Default Looking for advice on Reelfoot in the fall

I'm thinking of spending a few days up at Reelfoot during the third or fourth week of October. I'm wondering if that's a good time to fish and most importantly, if the wind is bad that time of year.

I went this past March for four days, and it was very windy. About all you could fish was the first three or four hours of the morning.

Matt you should have a good time. I am a hunter so I miss most fall fishing there but I understand it to be better than the spring.

Thanks for the advice. I hunt as well, but *usually* there's a lull in deer movement during the last half of October, so that's my justification for the fishing trip! hehe

    Matt
October is a very good time to fish. Last year in Oct. everytime I went I was able to catch well over a 100 fish in a few hours. And the weather / wind tends to be a lot more forgiving than in the spring.

Just find some 10 foot water and move slow and hold on, you will catch more than you will want to clean.

Just find me on this board when it gets closer and I will let you know how its going.

I was also planning a trip down to Reelfoot next spring and i figured early April was best. I live near Pittsburgh, Pa and it is an 11 hour drive. Any info or advice would be appreciated.

Expect lots of wind. It doesn't take much wind on Reelfoot to ruin the fishing. My advice is to plan at least four days, and get up early in the morning to fish. You'll be lucky top get four hours of fishing in per day.

Also, set your boat up for spider-rigging.

Do a search on this forum for "Reelfoot"....Cracker and I absolutely worn-em out this spring..(Cracker was getting limits in June!) .....the wind didn't bother us much at all this year, we found several spots on the backside of the wind...pads, trees, grass...you name it...phenominal year for me...the best I have ever had in 16 years of fishing that lake....

Thanks guys. What about Cypress resorts? We need a place to stay that will have a boat for us. Do you guys fish there a lot? Maybe we can meet up when we come down--probably nest April.
