reelfoot this weekend?
I'm heading to Blue Bank on Thursday. Plan on being there around 6pm.
Any suggestions? I want to catch crappie, but I don't minc bluegills at all.
What treed areas are better? I think the weatherman is calling for cooler than normal. It has been over 15 years since I've fished the 'foot.
Thanks ahead of time for the advice.

Hmmm....
I think Cracker will suggest Green Island point and perhaps working back into what I think is swan basin....I wouldn't pass up lost pond area and fishin the lilly pads either back there...Lost Pond...or the pads behind Eagles nest timber...also, Green Cypress, I would definately try those tress...especailly the ones on the outter edeges where it's a little deeper. Water should be up a couple inches for pool so, there should be plenty of water there...depending how adverturous you are, and if your renting or have your own boat....I would try the trees all the way down Devils Racetrack and into Simons pocket...normally, I wouldn't suggest this, BUT this year has been crazy....you just never know this year......if your fishing the trees...I would jig right off the bottom with a brown/chartruse tube jig, put a wax worm on that baby and hold on!

Bails-
Do ya'll ever spider rig the deeper water around Green Island point. A guy that works for me goes to the foot alot. He says to try First Pocket for bluegill along with the rat island shoreline. Have ya'll any experience with these areas.
I have a contour map and it looks like some deeper water with a good slope sw and west of green island point. Any luck on deep water crappie in the summer?

What do you mean by adventurous about the simon pocket area. Is it shallow there? I have my own 15' roughneck with a 9.9 merc and an extra prop.
I will be at Blue bank cabin from thursday to sunday if anyone wants to stop by and go with me.
PM me and i'll give you my cell number.

"TYPCICALLY", this time of year, the crappie tend to bunch up out in the deep water (Around Green Island Point)...and drift back North towards Grooms Pocket...there is a ditch that will take you over to Rat Island (I think the ditch is Rat Island Ditch) drifting back further will take you to Swan Basin.....there is Ditch about a mile long that will take you to Lost Pond..( I think that it's Donaldson Ditch.(SNAKES)..lots of pads over there and a nice group of trees hading north, north east out of that ditch...good to excellent fishing...I would stop and fish the mouths of the ditches too!
I would also try the lilly pads at the north end of Samburg Ditch on the West Side of it....I limitted out over there earlier this year. If you fish there, you can buzz back through Samburg Ditch..head east and go through Nations ditch...follow the channel steaks and fish all those trees...
What I mean by adventurous..is that from Blue Bank over to Simons pocket is quite the haul if you were renting they usually have 6hp...could take a while to get over there...From what I have been hearing...there is plenty of water over there.....

I will be heading to the lake this afternoon. So check back late tonight or early in the morning and I will let you know how I did.
I took a trip to a friend of mine pond yesterday and took a 12 foot rod with a 1/32 jig and flat out smoked them. probaly caught 30 fish in 30 min.
That gave me the fever so I'm headed to Reelfoot this afternoon. I'm going to have to guess that the fish will be in 9 foot or deeper. and the majority of 9' plus depth is off Green Island.
Rat island is a good place but its around 4' deep so might be hard to find them that shallow. I would try West of Green Island and West of Swan basin.

Cracker-
If you head to Priest, let me know. Depending on the time of year, could be dangerous at winter pool. Lots of spider rigging spots, brush piles, channel drops, etc.
You would not believe the traffic and pressure this little lake gets, takes a beating and still keeps on producing. On a Saturday in good weather you might as well give it up for the traffic unless you know where to go.
