Thread: Priest 6-18-06

My son and I went to Priest Saturday morning. We spider rigged around Hong Kong island and caught 11 keepers before 9:00. We only caught 2 that didn't measure. lost 5 good fish at the boat. I think it is time to invest in a good net.
Most came out of 13-14' water near the bottom. 3 were 13", 4 were 12". All made good fillets, though.
Traffic was slow for a Saturday.
Anyone else go lately?

Went out Thursday 6/15 and got 29, just could not get that last one. No real big fish but am filling up the freezer. They seem to be hit or miss. Some of the spots I normally catch fish I got blanked, but one spot I have not caught any on for some time paid off. Seems to be a process of elimination.

Hey volfan, sounds like you had a good day. I don't fish priest that much. Exactly where is hong kong island and how deep were you fishing? What were you using for bait? I would like to do some spider rigging at priest. I usually fish Barkley, but can't seem to get loose to go that far lately.

Hong Kong island is between Bryants Grove and 4 corners. We were using minnow and the fish were all in 13-14'.
Tri, I can't seem to get over the dozen mark. I usually catch good quality fish, but I can never limit out. I also, usually only fish 3-4 hours. That might be my problem. Maybe we can go sometimes. PM me and I will give you my mobile. Or any one else that would like to go.

Tried a little trolling around bald knob and bryant's grove this morning. 1 crappie, 13 lb flathead, and bucket full of little stripes and yellow bass, 1 little pumkinseed and a largemouth about 12". All of the bass except the largemouth were not much bigger than the lure.

Went out Friday morn and got 10 around brush. A little bit deeper 14 to 16, looks like I am going to have to start looking for brush in the 18 to 20 range pretty soon.
