    Default Ideas for summer trip

For the past couple years when the kids go back home to stay with the grandparents the wife and I have rented a cabin around Tellico and fished for trout. Bought a boat a little while back so our options are a little more open this year. It will be warm when we take our mini-vacation. After June 11th, maybe a few weeks.

So what say ye you knowledgeable people? We are open to other ideas and it doesn't have to be based solely on crappie fishing. Santeetlah, Douglas, Chilhowee, Dale Hollow or? I would like to spend some time on the water, but wouldn't be opposed to a little trout fishing either.

We are open to any and all suggestions. This is just some quiet time for us alone and away from the kids, based around some type of fishing. I would suppose the higher the altitude maybe the better. Not quite so hot....

If you want to trout fish, the Caney Fork would be hard to beat. Center Hill is nearby as well. There's a Comfort Inn at Gordonsville that's nice. If you stayed there you could fish the Caney or Center Hill. The Cumberland river is close as well as Cordell Hull, Percy Priest, and the Stones River. There's some good restaurants in Lebanon. You could also spend a day or two in Nashville as well.

Dale hollow has a really nice campground that border tailwaters stocked for trout. 5 min walk to trout fish 10 min drive to launch a boat on the lake

Rent a Houseboat on Dale Hollow and enjoy yourself! Center Hill also has options for that as well. I have done it a couple of times with the wife and we really enjoyed it. If there are just going to be 2 of you then get a small 30 footer or so. Throw some corn off the back and have a blast!

Thanks for the ideas. I haven't fished Center Hill/Caney Fork since I lived in Cookeville back in the early 90's.

The renting of a houseboat on Dale Hollow sounds very intriguing, as does a cabin there. We used to drive over it when going to Ky after lotto tickets, but never fished it. I recall it being a very, pretty lake.

They also have some nice cabins at Edger Evans state park on Center Hill along with houseboat rentals at some of those marinas. Very nice lake also. Makes a great vacation especially if you can find a spot where your cell phone does not work!
