Has anyone fished Old Hickory lately? I am looking for some tips on where to fish it this time of year. I typically put in at Shutes Branch or Cedar Creek Marina and fish those areas. Should I be trying elsewhere? The Steam Plant? The Dam?

I use Shutes Branch exclusively and fish in Drakes Creek from there down to Cedar Creek area. I was out there a couple weeks ago and the water temp was still too high in the mid 60's, I always have better luck in the Fall in this area of the lake when the water temp is in the mid 50's. I look for docks close to deeper water and pitch a small jig ( green & black ) and retrieve slowly and also hunt brush piles from 12ft to 20ft deep and fish over them tight lining a 1/2oz sinker with a hook about a foot or so above the sinker tipped with a minnow ( and fish this very slowly ) and sometimes I just drop a jig right in the top of the brush if there are in the brush and not above it. If you have a map of the lake look for BlueGrass... when leaving Shutes Branch when you get to the channel turn right and go roughly 1.5 miles if that far and BlueGrass will be right on the left before you make the big right hand turn to go towards Ceader Creek.... there are some nice slabs to be harvested in BlueGrass so GOOD LUCK.
Thanks Rudy. I have been up the Bluegrass channel many times but not in the search of Crappie. I just bought a boat to fish with and I am outfitting it for Crappie. It is taking me longer (and more money) than I anticpated. Should be able to do shake down trip later next week. I will check it out and let you know how it goes. I appreciate the tip.
