Thread: 10-27-09 Reelfoot with Pop

Well my dad and me hit the foot today and caught 29 crappie and 2 stripes. The biggest fish was 15" and weighed 1lb and 6oz., the rest were 9" to 10" fish. The biggest catch was me and my dad being together today(see photo below). We caught em 1' off the bottom in 8' to 10' of water the jig of choice by the crappie was blue with a chart curly tail tipped with a minnow or red with a chart curly tail. I tried nibbles with no luck at all. It was just a great day with my dad.

Great post, great catch and pics. Nothing like fishing with Dad, I can remember those days.

My folks split when I was 9, and my dad raised me and my sister. He worked a lot to provide for us. So we are trying to make up for those lost days as a kid. I treasure every time we go out even if we don't catch any fish. I have spent the past 4 days with him and it was great.

Your dad is one cool dude! We had many talks about crappie fishing back at the old auto shop. He always talked about his son and of course I never knew it was you. A really great guy to talk to and just be around in general. Im really glad you guys are getting out and catching fish. I never really got to know my dad even though I lived with him all my life and he and my mom are still together. I try to get him to go fishing but he is always the pessimist and has something bad to say about it and reasons why he cant go. Well I have four sons and lord willing I will get to see them grow up and spend time with them. I spend alot of time with them now....and well its not always a picknick. In some ways you want them to grow up a little bit and in other ways you never want them to grow up. A fine line....... Anyway, glad you guys had fun. I will be waiting on a call from you!!!
