Default My Douglas Trip with the "Big Dog"

I got a PM asking me if I found any good fishing spots while fishing with "The Big Dog" Booger. No I really didn't go for that reason nor could I take you to where he took me. I went because I am tired of catching 75 dinks to get 4 or 5 keepers here on Tellico. All you got to do is read the Douglas post's to see that those guys can catch nice crappies. I have some physical limitations and slo trolling looked like something I could do. Booger was kind enough to invite me and offered to show me several of the little things that help when slo trolling. I spent most of my time trying to watch rods and still listen to his pointers. He did tell me once or twice I talked to much instead of watching rods. All in fun though. He even threatened to have sinkum come over and straighten me out. I had a HOOT!I got a lot of information that will help me here on Tellico

oldwun it don't matter if you tell where I took you-when people get thier they got to find the fish and then they got to catch the fish and some people can't fish that deep- 25 feet is deep for some people- but looking at the fishfinder looks like this fish are headed deeper.

I'm glad that you fellas had a good time out there. I always enjoy learning new fishing techniques....it give the chance to buy more gear! :-)

I've been reading up on slow trolling, and I'm pretty close to having my boat set up for it, so hopefully i can give it a whirl sometime in September. Where there any particular techniques that you found helpful (like which rig to use or whether to run all of the rods at the same depths)?

Oldwun I fit that catagory myself, I'm older, slower, retarded now with sometime to fish on my hands and after reading Booger's post of slow trolling months ago and talking with him he gave alot of advice on how to do it. I'm an old bass fisher trying to learn to slow troll for crappie and I luv it. I need to go more.

Pardon my persistant dumb questions fellas, but I enjoy learning (and teaching) others new techniques to catch fish. In my opinion, that's what this site is all about.

So when slow trolling is it normal to keep all of your baits at the same depth, or do you stagger the according to what's on your depthfinder?

thrillseeker thats the kind of questions I had. We kept all our minners at the same depth. About 16 in off of the bottom.

thrillseeker, right now the fish in douglas is right on the bottom - as fall comes on they will move up in the water-so just watch the depthfinder and see where the fish are in the water- we are fishing 25 feet deep right now -next day they might be 35 feet deep -tva is pulling douglas hard right now so just watch the [depthfinder].
