Rick,

Man you guys are driving me nuts with those side scan pictures. I'd really like to see one working before I take the plunge and buy one. I'm sure they are not as complicated as it may appear. The perspective is what I'm having a hard time grasping. From what view are you looking. Is it simply a view out each side at 180 degree opposing angles? This is what Humminbird shows for the cone coverages. I'm just not seeing what would be shown on the screen. Do you have the option to switch from the two side scans to the 20 or 60 degree cone? How about sensitivity? Can you adjust it or just the brightness? I have read up a little on it but I want to hear from someone who has actually used one in one of our lakes. Any chance I can get a "ride along" to see it in person? Are you using the 797 Humminbird?

mark i am not a si guru but ill try to answer your questions
what you see on the screen si is everything directly under your boat plus ever how far you have it set to scan out each side cant remember exactly how far it will scan out each side you can use as regular sonar check pics 2 an 3 where i have the screen split you can adjust the sensitivity an the brightness i havent had mine very long speck is the si guru he has helped me with mine a bunch
it is the easiest to operate depthfinder that i have ever used
if you want to see it on the water let me know
i have the 997 speck has the mega 1197
if i told him wrong on anything speck you can correct it

you are right on sinkum they scan out to 240 ft each side but i prefer the 100 -150 range things show up a little bigger like sinkum said let us know we will take you for a ride.
you will love it if you aren't careful you will forget to fish
