There are 3 or 4 of us wanting to go to Reelfoot sometime in April. I have been twice with a company I worked for years ago and we stayed at Southshore resort. We will probably be taking our kayaks so we don't really need to get the whole room/fishing package deal that most places have. I had a few questions for anyone that has been out there recently. Where did you stay, how did you like the place, and would you recommend one place over another?
As of right now I'm thinking Southshore resort, Reelfoot Lake Inn, or the state park inn. I'm not sure how these places feel about you bringing your own boat, I would just have to call and ask.
I could use all the info you can give me, good or bad. Thanks!
Sharpshooter, I live here at the lake so I can you give some advice. The spring here is windy the kayak would be a poor choice. Bo's landing is the only
boat rental that I know of will rent you a boat and motor for $50 dollars a day, there number is 731-253-7809. [You MUST reserve one Very early]
Most all the motels TRY to rent there rooms with the fishing package in the spring busy season. [ more money for them ] If you book you trip early you can beat that trap.
Boyette's motel very old but clean, and the cheapest, and Mrs. Judy is a wonderfull lady. She will rent you what every want.
Reelfoot Lake Inn 731-253-6845 rents rooms without the fishing package.
Before I moved here I have stayed at them all, Blue Bank and Cypress Point
are nice and on the water, but more expensive.
I would stay at Reelfoot Lake Inn or Boyette's. Boyette's has a kitchenett and all the cook ware. If you stay at Boyette's it' just a short walk to Boyette's Dining Room, and as you know some superdupper food.
Bo's Landing has the best minnows, they sell them by the pound. Fill your vehicles up before you get to the lake here, gas is very high around the lake.

out of the 4 trips i have been reel foot the wind blew hard no way would i have wanted to be out in a kayak it about swampe the 14ft jon boats were were in at time we stayed at cypress point
They dont care if you bring your own boat. They dont knock off much off the price anyway. Unless you have a good boat you feel more comfortable in I would just use the rentals. Definately dont want to be out there in a kayak as everyone said the wind is tough most days. Good side is that if you tip over chances are you can stand up and not be all the way under
if you take your kayak i would stay on the north end of the lake. lots of trees and ditches to hide in. you might ask around and see what people say about grays camp. personily i like it. jon and cindy are good people, they will take good care of you. lots of good cover on the north end. we go every year the last week of april, it is good!!!............................ you have a pm.

Go check out a water shed lake near by or one of our very well known river shoots/ oxbows.
