Cleon, I dont feed 'em. I just try to use 'em up before they start dying. From all the info I have gathered about keeping minnows, if you feed 'em they poop more in the water raising the amonia levels causing you to have to change the water more regularly (or loosing more minnows).

i can keep them for months without feeding them anything. i have a 75 gallon tank with a filter and air stone and they stay lively...a always use well water and put bait saver in the tank when i start it up. make sure to keep it cool or in a cool place. i freeze well water in gallon jugs and add sometimes in the heat of the summer.

Dale's Superet on HW74 right across lake Wylie on the Gaston co side sells minnows by the pound. I think a pound sells for $18.00 and that's a lot of minnows. They sell a #4 and a #6. A#4 is about 1to 1-1/2"long and the #6 are about 2-1/2 to 3" long. I've been buying 1/4lb of each for $10.17 every Friday for Saturday trips.

I save my leftovers in a 125gal garden pond and I have a 120v aerator with 2 stones bubbling. Feed them flake goldfish food about once a week, just to give them some strength.
    I don't fish because I want to, I fish because I HAVE to !

    Moma tried real hard.
