    Default How about boiled peanuts?

Just finished reading the thread about pickled eggs, which I dearly love. On my boat, I always seem to have a ziplock full of boiled peanuts. I've found that if I boil about 8 qts of peanuts, it takes about 12-14 tsp of salt and I have to add water the whole time theys boiling. I boil for 4 hrs and then let then sit in the brine till they can be handled. Leaves them a tad crunchy. Problen is I can't quit eating once I start. Had poles in the water 5 gides deep and can't but them peanuts down! The hulls also sink so you can't tell where youve been on the water. I still want to try the pickled egg recipes I read.

Could you emagin what would happen if you mixed boiled peanuts and pickled eggs???
    I don't fish because I want to, I fish because I HAVE to !

i got one of those old black washpots that can hold a bushel of raw nuts. one of those propane burners to go under it.put in the nuts and cover with water. add bout 1lb. of sea salt and let em boil. goota have plenty of cold beers and good help to get em just right. usually bout 7-8 hrs. does em nice. but p-nuts like everything else done went out of sight. last bushel i got was $67.00 from rhat market on Celenese Rd. across from Home Depot.

I love boiled peanuts. Never thought about boiling my own. This might seem stupid, but Rango how do you boil the peanuts, like how long and do you use just water. The bacon thing sounds good.
    WP the other white meat.

    Default crock pot boiled peanuts

i also do them in a crock pot, usually let them soak a few couple of hours then turn them on low heat and cook for 8-10 hrs. add salt to taste and cook till they are soft as you like. will make the house smell like boil peanuts for a while...:D

I gotta break with you guys on the boiled peanuts...that and hominy are the only two things I don't like to eat. Used to feel that way about pickled beets until I ate some good ones.
