I almost hate to write this report.I fished Lake Greenwood today. The lake conditions were...Muddy from the 72 bridge to the twin rivers area. From the bridge to Cane Creek was moderately stained including Quarters Creek. The water temperature was 51 at Quarters Creek this morning and at Cane Creek this afernoon late it was 58.Air temp was almost 80 which is amazing considering the low last Tuesday was 18!!!The winds were moderate from the southwest turning to light and variable by afternoon.By evening they were calm.It was a fine day.
I do not normally fish this hard.I startred at 10 this morning and fished until7:30 this evening with a one hour break for an early dinner.I fished Quarters Creek, twin rivers area, and Cane Creek.I fished docks, the bank, flats and the main river channel along with creek mouths.I used jigs tipped with minnows, jigs alone, minnows alone and even fished shallow with a minnow and cork. The results were One crappie,One white perch and one other fish on.(a crappie I think). That is one crappie in 8:30 hours of fishing.I know of no other fish more difficult for me to catch.
I will say that I am awed by the ability of those folks who catch dozens in a morning or afternoon. You are truly expert fisherfolks.![]()
Oh well I will try tomorrow but fish for me is now tuna or salmon from a can.The missus has completely given up!!!
Sorry for such a long post but this lake has become a real challenge...But I wont give up!!!
I hope everyone has a most blessed day...
Dont give up Manhatten. I go to greenwood regularly and some days I catch 40 and the next day only 3 or 4. If I dont catch them out in the middle with a minner 8 or 10 feet down, then I will try the minner right off the bottum of the lake. If that doesnt work I,ll try trolling. If that doesnt work, I try fishing the docks and rocks. Use a minner and or jig. Put the jig 2 or 3 feet below a small cork, toss it under or around some docks that are up in creek runs and just keep throwing. You will get on some fish. The fish are just as confused as we are right now because of the mud and crazy tempurature changes. But believe me, its about to get reel <<< good. Timk
Sounds like you had about the same day as my wife & I did. We fished the Twin Rivers area with not even a bite.
I'm not very familiar with Lake Greenwood. Could you explain to us where Cane Creek & Quarters Creek are on the lake? Thanks!
i think you are a good fisherman cause it easy to give up and a real fisherman now he wants some fish on the table and will stay at them when you get them next time then tell us you don't want to fish. good luck. all of us have them days sometime the more i be on the lake the more the young lady wants me to do yard work
