first my son jdss and i kept 29 quality crappie fri. we then took a friend from ga. with us sat and kept 25. yesterday we fished three hours and kept 12 quality crappie. good weekend and lots of laughs. they basically waxed me on sat. (back of the boat). the wind was tough but finding the right places helped. ready for them to really turn on shortly.
CoolBreeze you had the hot hand this weekend bud! Whats your rig look like i keep an eye out for you this coming weekend. I normally fish the upper part of the lake this early in the spring, just thought i would try my favorate spawning area around Robinson's Marina but no luck.
I thought I was a pretty good crappie fisherman at one time but after reading this post I must not be. I fished hard all day Sat and 5 hours on Sun, caught two good crappie. I longlined trolled about every creek from crystal lake up to clouds creek. Everybody I talked to is not catching many so you must got something good going. I guess I have a lot more to learn about Murray.
i have a 19' cc seapro with 115 4/str. yamaha. i usually have a small american flag flying at the stern. also; we are spider rigging and tight line fishing. have not been on the bank yet. saw a few people up there but am going to wait on the spawn for the slabs.
hey crappie gobbler. we have found that spider rigging(tight lining) and the slower the better. you really have to watch the tips of your poles also. most of them just give it a little tick. every now and then one will slam it. keep trying. they will turn on for you. i guess we are just lucky but i have fished the little river about thirty three years. i remember before all of the fishing pressure that is there now ; we really used to slay them. there are still millions of crappie up there. the draw down several years ago has helped tremendously.
Glad to see your report of catching some crappie. Sounds like a good weekend.![]()

Hey it was nice seeing yall up in the river this weekend. Nice to meet you. We had a pretty good weekend too, but from what I heard not many people did. Guess you just got to be in the right place at the right time. Fish slow, slow, slow.
The fish are definitely spotty, but if you kind find a few and stay on em you can put a nice mess in the boat. A fish every now and then will build a nice fish fry for the future.
