Got off work at four and decided on the spur of the moment to go fish for a few hours. We tried Stamp creek, got anchored at 6:30 and fished until 10pm. The water temp was 51 degrees and stained. The bite was consistent up until 9pm then died completely. All the fish were caught from 7 to 16 feet deep(over 32 feet of water on a ledge). We ended up catching 21 crappie, kept 12 for the freezer. The biggest went 2lbs 1ounce. That's the first crappie over 2lbs I've caught on Keowee in a couple years I believe. Right before we called it a night my kittie rod started bouncing and was able to haul in a 14lb 12oz blue cat. That's the first nightstalk I've been on since early November and it felt great to be back at it again.
Good to hear they are starting to bite at night. Some nice looking fish, congrats.![]()

Really nice crappie & nice catfish too!
Great job Cleon! Hey, whattcha baiting your kitty rod with? I'm gonna try that this year for the first time. In the past, I've just tossed out 10 jugs on the way to crappie fish and picked them up on the way home, often with 2-4 catfish to supplement the crappie catch.

Hey fisher, I'll normally wait for the first small crappie and then filet both sides and chop off the head. They love those crappie heads!
Great report cleon, Timk
