Default Beautiful day on Lake greenwood

The wind calmed down around noon and it warmed up nicely so I decided to fish for a while. On the first cast I caught my largest crappie yet and I said "today is the day to catch a freezer full".Three hours later I quit after never having another bite.It was however a spectacular day on the water and I said to the missus as I was heading out the door with a grin on my face and a tackle box in my hand "retirement isnt too bad".
The water temperature was 58.4, winds were calm to light ,variable but primarily Northwest, air temp was 73,water was slightly stained.
Having read other Greenwood reports I am more convinced that skill is a crucial factor in fishing.I am only a beginner while other experienced anglers have much more success. This board and the excellent advice found here helps speed up the learning process.
I hope everyone has a most blessed day and finds a baitwell full of joyful moments.

    Default Beautiful day on Greenwood

The pain is I had to work all day about 50 yards from Wylie and couldnt chunk a line. But 9 years and 8 months I wont worry about not having time to chunk a line. Will be like MR.Rango and go when I please. A Day fishing is better than any day at work...

I went to Greenwood too. Your day sounds like mine except you caught one!

    Hello Carnet,
Are you the gentleman with a new 3 battery trolling motor system??The same one who volunteered to help me with a fish when i was being dragged in my float tube??
I fish in a Tracker Pro-crappie with a 40 horse mercury..I hope to see you soon.
Have a most blessed and joyful day..

i reccomend retirement for anyone :D. i latched onto a job that allowed me to retire at a early age (55) and i proved all them folks wrong that hang around the local hardees drinking free coffee in the mornings waitin on the reaper to pay em a visit. :D. they all was saying the same thing---why do you wanna retire so young... you gonna be bored to death.... well i aint been bored a day. broke at times, yeah, but not bored. :D go for it when you can and dont put it off. from a fishermans point of view the best thing ive found about it is the availability of the lakes through the week when the crowds are nil and being able to pick and choose the days you go. when the cold fronts hit on the weekends, its nice to be able to do something else cause you know things will improve by the first of the week when everyones gone back to work :D. congratulations to you new retirees. i hope you guys enjoy it as much as i have....
listen with your eyes---its the only way to beleive what you hear...

manhattan get up stream of the 221 bridge. caught then in the main river channel between the bridge and the tressel. also caught them in the reedy river. most were in 15 to 20 feet. didn't do too good in the coves and close to the bank. caught 43 keepers from 12:30 till dark. mostly on shades of green jigs. did pretty well on orange about 2 hours before dark. they should be hitting the banks soon. i can't believe they are still in the channel ? i saw 60° water though i know it's only surface temp. the fish you catch are cold!!!! keep fishing one day it'll seem like you are a expert and can do no wrong. then they'll throw you a curve and give you a piece of humble pie.
