I heard from some guys the other day that they were catching there crappie on "No-alibis" or "alibis" something like that. I've googled it and all I can find are saltwater rigs. Have any of you ever heard of anything like that before being used to crappie fish? Just wondering
Hooking up every chance I get!
they are hair jigs...I get mine from James Covington out of Rock Hill (803) 329-1417....we've been using them for 25 years w/ good success....Port-Tronics in Greenville also has them but charge .70 each...James charges .50 each....they have a bullett rather than round head, a skirt covers the feather where it is tied to the jig head..popular colors are red/white/chart, black, chrome & chart., red/chrome/chart., many colors to choose from. They seem to work better for me when the fish want a slow presentation, the hair breathes even when the jig is sitting still (like under a cork). I usually go to plastics when the fish get more aggressive... Hope this helps, Burdawg

There's a store up in fair play that you can get em. I can't remember the name but it's an old country store off of Exit 2. You have to ask for em if I remember right, the keep em behind the counter. I don't remember what they cost but it wasn't that much.
I don't remember the name of the old store either....but a friend of mine reminded one day when we were in there that they had 'em behind the counter...I believe the store is on the left...an old woman was running it the last time I stopped, she counted out them jigs like they were gold pieces..it was kinda entertaining![]()

GET THE NET -- IT'S A BIG UN'!
I just got a new order of jigs from Mr. Covington. Thats about the only jig I use $50 is the min order. The 1/32 jigs are round heads and he has some 1/16 which are bullet, he has a bigger selection of 1/32 jig, but will tie any color of the 1/16. He's one of the nicest guys you will talk to.
The orignal "No-alibis" were made by the "Muddy Water Jig Company" in Elloree, SC.
They also made the "Rooth Tooty 309". These were the thing to use at Santee back in the 50's and 60's and 70's. I lost the package that the couple I still have about 10 years ago. The hook was so strong, you could pull a stump out by the roots with it. I've had the few that I still have over 40 years and package shows it to. The colors were a conbination of Red, White and Yellow, mixed or solid. The R/T series came out in the later years before they closed. It was a small back yard operation from what I've been able to find out over the past few years.

After Muddy Water quit making them, The Betts started tp make some and they called them "Betts Pea Jig" , but I haven't seen any from them in the last several years. Since zip codes started in 1963, M/W was at lease operating after then also. I've tried to locate who was making them then, but everyone that I've talked to down there, no one seems to know who it was..

That's the store on the left. I felt like I was askin for a jar of shine the way they were lookin over those jigs. But I guess there's a reason, we used some of em the next day to place in the Crappie USA tourney. I don't know if they tie them there or get em from somewhere, but it's the only place I know to get em up this way. I think the name of the store is Ms. Holly's.
