My Dad aint no fisherman or hunter but my Grandma always told me I inherited my desires from my Grandpa. Luckily I lived in a neioghborhood with other kids my age and us boys always spent all our free time out of school down at the creek fishing. Every so often us boys that fished would get an invite from one of the neighborhood kids' Dad to go to a fish pond somewhere and we'd catfish all day long. Once I turned a teenager all I wanted to do was chase skirts and fish and a little winter time hunting. All was alot of fun but back then it was hard finding another guy whe liked fishing/hunting as much as I did and wanted to fish/hunt the way I wanted to so usually I was at farm ponds bass fishing by myself. After I married I met up with a bonafied die-hard fisherman and hunter who excelled at both and he sorta took me under his wing and learned me all he knew.We camped every weekend during the winter deer/squirrel hunting and I fished with him atleast one nite every weekend during the late winter/spring/early summer. God rest his sole, that man has surely been missed.

i grew up without a daddy. i had my brother and we always rambled together as kids, exploring, hunting and fishing when we could in the mtns. we was put in a orphanage or some kinda home with a bunch of other kids when i was about 8 to around 12 yrs. she got married again, took us home and we moved to south ga and rambled the woods and swamps down there. that was our only way of killing time. our partnership ended when i was 15 while we was in s. ga. momma moved back to nc with the family and i stayed in ga boarding with a family till the cuban missle crisis when i tried to join the marines and they wouldnt take me cause i couldnt prove my age. i hitched a ride back to nc shortly before my 17th birthday so i could get momma to sign for me to join the army and i left home a few days after my 17th. he left a year later when he turned 17. our paths crossed occasionaly the next few years while we was in the military. i got out in 68 and he died in vietnam in 69. we never had a father figure and i guess cause we was left to fend for ourselves so much we spent a lot of time together rambling the woods and rivers and creeks and i been addicted to em ever since.
listen with your eyes---its the only way to beleive what you hear...
My Grandfather was an avid angler and wing shooter. I would go with him to some old fishing hole where he would tell stories of him and his brothers fighting, fishing, and being mean. I learned alot from him. I took up hunting for anything legal that moved. Then when I got married and had kids it seemed work and paying bills took over, and hunting and fishing took a back seat. We would go on vacation or camping I would always take the kids fishing, and every deer season I would take them in with me if they wanted to go. About 5 years ago I relized you only go around once. Now I hunt and fish every spare moment I can.
Thanks' Grandaddy for showing me the ropes Been missing him for 19 plus years!
Take your kids hunting and fishing, and you won't be hunting your kids
I inherited it from daddy who has passed away. He love fishing but couldn't go much because of his business that literary worked him and mama to death. When he found a spare moment, he love crappie fishing and especially eating crappie. I would love for him to be here and be able to fish with me now. My older brothers really got me into fishing and hunting. We fished for (bass, crappie, stripers) and hunted for (quail, dove, rabbit, turkey, deer, squirrel). They always seem to drag me along even though I was so much younger at the time than them. Thanks to them and God, I am blessed with the enjoyment of the outdoors which I will pass onto my kids.
my favorite memories of my dad are in a boat ,or sitting on a river bank. I sure miss fishing with my dad. I know he will be meet me at the gates of heaven ready to catch a mess of crappie and bream.
Life is an adventure, It's not the destination we reach thats most rewarding, Its the journey along the way
