Live and Learn."Life's short fish Hard"
Boat sunk in Santee. But at least I had it insured and when I got it back it was better than presinking. I will always keep insurance after that.
my van rolled in and towtruck ripped my trailor in half one night on wylie
Toon left me at the Pink Flamingo during storm,Docked itself nicely at the marina across the creek. So good it took an hour of looking to find it.
My brother and I got caught on lake Oconee during a tornado. We were trying to outrun it. If it weren't for following the track on my GPS we wouldn't have been able to get out of it. All ended well except we didn't win the tournament.
To heck with work, lets go fishing.
I was on Lake Waccamaw near Whiteville NC. My boat was tied to a bottom anchored tie buoy about 20 feet from the shore. A huge storm came up and my wife told me that the boat was rising pretty high with the waves coming in. Naw I said there ain't no problem the anchor buoy will hold it. Unfortunately the buoy rope broke under the stress of the waves and the boat came to shore and sunk.....getting it back floating was a major ordeal as it not only was full of water it had 10 inches of mud in the bottom when the storm finally ended....no bilge pump on that boat just bucket power.
I backed my old 1970 C10 down a steep ramp about 3am one morning to load my boat. I pushed down the parking brake and felt something pop. No park brake. I put it in low gear and started out of the truck, it kinda rolled a gear then stopped, Then rolled another inch. I jumped back in the truck and applied the brakes.. I kept trying to take my foot off but it would inch back when I did. I said well I better go get my other truck to get my boat. Turned the key and the battery cable was loose.I was stuck there thinking so long hat my leg holding the brake started jumping and jerking.. I flashed my lights on and off at each car say 30 minutes apart. I kept lookin at those big rocks out the window wishin I could get one under my tire.... but if I tried for one my truck might have went swimming. I was already up to the cab almost from rolling back when I would lift my foot. I finally dug a speaker from under the seat, tied a rope on it and swung it under the front tire.. worked great just took me 2 hours to figure it out..I never claimed to be smart..
lost a prop once.... last spring I left for a quick afternoon fishing trip in my short and a tee shirt. Right at dark I stopped to head home.. Starter wouldn't work. I tried to jump it but grounded it and blew the ign. fuse... So I couldn't pull start it..5 1/2 hours and 15 degrees colder and breezy I made it in to the ramp.

Lower unit just before the clash 1100 bucks, hit something in west point. The 1100 included a power tilt and trim pump and motor.
First time fishing upper lake murray out of SCE&G #3. Starter broke on the boat so we had to troll back to the ramp. Trolling motor switch broke with the motor stuck on low. By the time we got close enough to the ramp it was Dark. Did not realize there were no lights at the ramp so we proceeded to troll/row right by it. After about five hours we finally had to stop at a house to find out where the ramp was. Luckily the people were friendly and didn't mind us knocking on there door at 11:00. Took us another hour to cross the cove and get to the ramp. Oh, did I mention my wife was pregnant and hostile, and I was supposed to be home around 6.
Went to Kentucky Lake with a bunch of my buddies. We rented covered slips for our four fishing boats, tied them up and played poker the rest of the night. Next morning we went down to the marina and saw that all the marina covered slips had been on fire and all our boats burned to the waterline. Haulin those empty trailers home looked like a funeral procession!
