me and ot made a striper run to wateree yesterday, after hearing about em startin to stir down there. we got there at cracking daylight, after gettin us some bait at neds. the ramps was crowded, which suprised me, it being a weekday. it dint help matters none that there was a boat tying up one of the two ramps with some fellers that was taking their own sweet time loading it and gettin their stuff ready (ill never understand why some folks dont realize there is places to prepare your boat for launch and its NOT on the ramps). the other ramp had three boats waiting to unload, but i did get some sweet satisfaction in the fact that when they finally put their boat in the water it wouldnt crank. after the other three boats left, we got unloaded and took off, leaving the uncrankable still trying to crank. we went up to the cedar creek area. it was good daylight by then to find it pretty congested by a lot of boats so we reigned in and went back down the creek a bit, a little below the powerlines and anchored. within just a few minutes ot had a fish on, then before he could get it in the box he had another on, then another. i thought i was gonna have to throw him in the water to cool him off before i finally caught one. from then on till 9:15 it was a fairly steady bite and we lost 3 or 4 fish after hookup or at the boat. then we had a hour or so to take a break and ot said he needed to dump. well the beast dont have a crapper you can hide in to do your bidding, but it does have a spare bucket that sits out in the open floor
. after pointing it out to ot, he held off as long as he could and everyone knows when you gotta go, you gotta go and with a stubborn captain you go when you can where you can so he hit the bucket. after some rumbling and roaring, ot notified me he was ready to catch another fish. when you sittin on a bucket and cant run and you see the captain pull a camera out, you are in serious doo, and you cant do nothing but set there and take it. the flash on the camera dint seem to phase him much, since he was caught with his britches down and couldnt move....... anyway, later in the am, thumper come by and anchored up beside us a bit, caught a fish and took off for home around noon time. id been told by rafdaddy the bite would pick up again in the afternoon so we stayed put. i took a little nap and as predicted by rafdaddy, around three or so the bite started again, and i felt it was as good as the morning bite. we was fairly busy all evening, and lost 6 to 8 hookups, 4 of em in a row. they run water all day and dint stop till shortly before we quit at 7pm. once we anchored yesterday morning we dint move all day. it was tempting to do so, but we dint see anyone catching any fish around us so we decided to see if the same spot would produce as well in the afternoon and it did. the wind wasnt a problem. it got up several times, forcing us to put a jacket on but when it stopped, it warmed up pretty fast. we kept count of the fish throughout the day and we hoping to limit out, but that last fish just wouldnt hit. at show and tell, we had 19 stripers, one shy of 2 limits and one nice 15 pound or so blue cat and a few bullheads. we had a good day on the lake but seein how crowded it was on friday, with word out the striper bite is on, i dont think id wanna be down there this morning... it will be a mad house im sure

Nice catch Rango. Stripers are one fish I know nothing about and havent ever tried catching. Looks like you guys had alot of fun. I was afraid to open a couple of those pictures. Didnt know whether I'd see OT on a bucket or not.:D
Some of those guys on a boat ramp are annoying for sure. Yesterday when I made it to the boat ramp (2 slips) there was actually two guys with towels cleaning a bass boat ON THE RAMP! They had just trailered and pulled the boat out of the water and then cut the truck off while still on the ramp wiping the boat down. AND, the boat looked to be 20 years old and didnt look that good to start with. The parking lot would only hold maybe 100 trucks/trailers but I guess those guys didnt think of that since there were maybe 20 vehicles there. Just glad the other slip was available so I didnt have to ask them to move, but I wouldnt have hesitated either. Funny thing is, they didnt look that dumb but I guess they still are! :D
if you all wouldnt of been using ugly sticks then im sure you would of landed more fish. :D
if at first you dont succeed............drink another beer
Gotta go.......FISH ON !!
I only fish on days that end in"Y"
way them fish was pulling in that current, if we hadint been using uglies, we have come home with some broken rodsOriginally Posted by pete
