    Default Newbie on Wylie

Hey guys. I have recently been transplanted to the Gastonia area by a promotion I recieved. I don't have my boat up yet due to the fact me and my family are temporarily in an apartment while we begin the search for a house. I know quite a few of you fish Wylie with some regularity and I am planning on getting the boat up for a weekend in the next few weeks and wondering if you could point me in the direction of a ramp closer to Cramerton or Belmont and give me some advice on where to head from there. I don't know if I want to do a nightstalk quite yet being the first time on the lake and no gps but it is definitely in the future once my comfort level picks up a little bit. Thanks in advance for any advice yall can offer.

welcome to the area weldcraft. south point will probably be your closest landing from belmont. it will give you acess to the upper end of the lake and the river run. the buster boyd landing is more centrally located to the lake and will save you a long boat ride if you fish lower in the lake. fishing the lower end of the lake you got nivens creek, ebeneezer and alison crk acesses. also nc and sc shares the lake and it would be a good idea to get lisences from both lake so you wont have to worry about where you are at.

southpoint is your best bet. There is a ramp behing Dale's superette at the bridge on 74 east bound but I do not recommend using it. The ramp is in poor shape not to mention the saftey issues. There is also another ramp on 27 at the bridge but I think you have to pay a couple bucks to use it if it still open.
I can only wish to be as good as my dog thinks I am
