Thread: Congaree Last Night

Got set up just down from the confluence of the Congarre/Wateree and wham right from the first snap a ten pound blue and two more pickups but no dice. Thought it was going to be a great night but that was the end of it. Went back up river and set up on a flat to get ready for dark. Multiple pickups and many gar but nothing exciting. I saw and heard many large swirls and splashes that i thought were stripers but I had no luck. Finally left about ten. I think my problem was bait. All my good bites came on large chunks of cut herring out of the freezer. When that ran out NADA. Cut bream, small herring, shad no dice. Gonna try 'em again next week. Water was clear, moving slow and had only dropped to 63 from 65 degrees. Pretty night. Multiple gobbles at sundown made for a beautiful evening despite lack of cooler full.

Did you put in @601 or lowfalls.. I haven't been able to get on the water in over 3 weeks but when the water settles they should be on.

Iput in at 601. great landing as long as you are operating in daylight. It can be a booger after dark. Water is as pretty as I've seen it. Slow and clear.
