Little late on this report. Monday I started out at daylight in the Cypress Shores area looking for bedding shellcrackers. What a beautiful area to fish and it was pleasant in that the bass fishermen were nowhere to be found. Anyhoo, there were no bedding fish to be found. Went over to Ferguson's Landing in Eutawville and zeroed out again. Decided the temps were a liitle to cool around the river channel so went to the Manning side. Water temps there were 68 and climbing. Fished the cow pasture over there and caught a few scattered but i saw no bedding activity whatsoever and I scoured the area real good. Did catch some gills that looked like they were gathered up in one area but they wee not the size I was looking for. A friend of mine was also fishing and he found no bedding fish either. Maybe this full moon was just too early. Oh well May 2 will be here soon. Went to the Congaree Tuesday and caught one channell 5# and one blue 28#. Had several good runs and saw some stripers hitting the surface but none were boated. Water was clear 65 degrees and moving slow. I'm going back this afternoon to fish the confluence of the Wateree and Congaree. I'm hoping this weather change will not affect the river. I don't think it got as cold last night as they anticipated. It was 43 when I got up so Im telling myself it won't be affected. Gotta hold out hope when it's your last day of spring break and the weekend is going to be windy and 58.
Good report coach, hope to get down to Packs Flats before to long.
Thanks for the report Coach.....I'll keep an eye out from shellcrackers next week end when I'm on Moultrie. Gonna try North end in the trees near rediversion. I'll post a report.
nice report
Is Ferguson's landing big enough to launch an 18ft pontoon? Was thinking about fishing there tonight and in the morning, by looking at the map it looks like it would be a good starting point to stay out of the wind.
Yep you could launch there , No problem. Great place to fish not as popular as some of the bigger landings.
