Thread: Lake Russell 4/05

Not a good nite for me. First off, needed minnows so went to the store near the lake where I was launching and got some....all mediums (all they had left) and I never buy mediums, just small ones. (Their mediums are about as long as your middle finger and I dont like fishing with 'em that big.) Launched the boat and headed down the river when all of a sudden the motor died. Primer bulb needed to be pumped back up and I could hear air sucking in at the tank. Worked with the O-ring and finally decided I wasnt getting anywhere. Looked in my boat tool box and found an old gas line end but it fit smaller hose size. Wrapped the nipple with black electrical tape and jammed the fuel line on the nipple. Got that going. Still had a far piece to go and got there and anchored around dark. Needed lights to bait hooks by that time. Anyway, caught a decent fish within 5 minutes so I thought it would be an OK nite. WRONG!! Waited a whole hour before another one bit. Now after fishing an hour I had caught 2 fish. Fished another hour before catching another one so I called it quits. After the first hour the bait was circling the lights and the fish was underneath them. The graph showed fish underneath the bait but they just wouldnt bite. I dangled minners under their noses for over an hour and there just werent no takers. The water temp has dropped 4 more degrees or so, now down to 64 degrees since I last fished 3 or 4 days ago. A couple weeks ago it was up to 72-74 degrees. I think I'm gonna give the craps a rest for a week os so and pick me up a few herrin and see what the cats are doing.

Man that's the way it has been for me the last 10 days or so.
Just can't seem to find em, and when I think I have, can't stay on em.
Oh well, going this afternoon I hope. Beats being at work.:D

Sorry to hear that those fish shut down but glad to hear you made it back in without any more motor troubles. My trolling motor decided to quit a day or so ago, but maybe it chose a good time for that after all!

I'm sure you'll be back on them soon. I'll start again about the middle of next week, and I'll let you know what happens good or bad!
