I plan on picking up around 8 night talking polls with reels, and maybe 4 kitty cat rods.

Hey guys, i have received a couple of rods/reels from some members here. When the other people that i work with saw them they wanted them to. If you see any of those travel rod/reel combo and they are not that much we sure could use them for the Soldiers. If you send them to me i will ensure that the Soldiers get them. We plan on starting a Baghdad fishing club they have no tackle that i have found overhear. I will post pictures soon.
    Thanks again.

Are there any size considerations on the gear to send? Any specific tackle needs Id like to get a package together.

I went 2 years ago. My buddy and I arrived at 5:30 with biscuits & coffee. The gates opened at 6:am REAL COLD AND VERY WINDY, We were lucky enough to be in the first 100 in line. Looking back and watching the line grow was wild. They just kept on coming and coming!
By the time the doors opened there were around 8-10,000 people in line 3-4 wide. The line snaked through the lot, out the gate, down the street and on across to WB stadium. I have never ever seen so many people in ONE line for anything in my 57 years.
    I WAS TOTALLY AMAZED!

If you go, have a list of what you want and don’t fool around looking until you have gathered up what you have on the list.
    ------------------------
Some of the smarter guys that I saw came in groups of 4-5 people and obviously had a good preplanned game plan.
1 was pushing a hand truck with a trashcan strapped to it with duck tape. These people positioned themselves up against a wall or in a corner [guarding the can and hand truck]. Everyone else in the group went their own way searching and returning to the trash can to unload their goods, then set off to get more.
You need to wait around late to check out. DON'T BE IN A HURRY TO LEAVE, even if it means sitting/ or leaning against the wall and wasting time because the man with the microphone will CUT PRICES IN HALF IF YOU WAIT HIM OUT. The prices are already low but another ½ off makes it even better. I picked up 12 - 7 ft. Ugly Stiks for $15.00 each, but if I could have waited they would have been $7.50. I couldn’t wait because I was riding with a friend who needed to leave.
This year I plan to go again and get 10-16 –12 ft. crappie rods. They were selling for $22.00 last time.

    Remember 2 things….
[1] If you wait till 8:00 to get there you’ve lost out on the good stuff !!!!!!!!
[2] The longer you wait to pay the cheaper things get !!!!!!!!!!

    Good Luck
