    Default Roanoke River Rockfish 5-12

I made the long trip to Weldon this past Saturday. The river has been flooded for a week or so. I waited for it to get back to normal and think I bout waited too long. The fish seem to have spawned and the bigger fish were not in the mix for me anyway. I caught the smallest class of fish there I've ever caught, lots of 14"-16" fish. The cut bait bite was the best I've saw there, it was about as good as the live bait bite. The eel bite was almost nonexistent. Some years they will eat the eels up and some years they won't bite them. The lord blessed us with a safe successful trip. Boated 80 Rockfish and 7 catfish, enough to get a small case of the " Rockfish Rash" on my thumb.Name: IMG_1958.jpg

Long time no hear from. Congrats on catching plenty, but not the normal class of fish you usually post from the river. Still looks like a fun trip by the numbers, if not by the size. Thanks for sharing, enjoyed the read and pictures.

Way to go Sam! Sorry it wasn't necessary the size you were after but it looks fantastic in the numbers department.

Hey! With the right equipment that would be a BLAST! Catching is FUN! Congrats.
