Has anyone been to Wateree this week. Is the water clearing up since last weekend?
Would also like to know if anyone knows if the catfish go shallow in spring like in other lakes, and where are some good spots to try? Taking a vacation down to Wateree second week in April.
Thanks
I fished yesterday in Wateree creek area and there is some trash still in the water but it is not near as muddy as I anticipated. The water is down about 2.5 from full pool. It should be fishable this week. My excursion in the am was unsuccesfull and I did not see anyone catching fish. I think the changing water levels has given them lockjaw. It looks better than the photos I saw on here of Wylie. Hopefully, they will turn on this week. I will try it again Tuesday afternoon.
you going to wateree at a prime time. if i was you, id drift the river run from cedar creek down to around the big root ball in the turn just above wateree creek. if you gonna anchor then set up down at the big rocks. theres a deep hole in the turn, over next to the rocks. use cut bait. brim, perch, crappie or shad and you should find em somewhere in that areaOriginally Posted by scwolf

I live on Lake Wateree and the water down on this end is still very muddy. Back down to normal level and hoping to see some clearing this week. Now that I know it is getting clear at the other end. Been out there jigging just to get my arm ready for when they come up to the dock! Did anybody hear a report update on the missing sail boater? He was last seen bout 3pm last Saturday? Didn't see anything in the paoer.
thanks Rango,
I will definately keep that in mind when we're there. Haven't been doing to well the last few weekends with wind and high water every weekend. Hopefully fishing is getting ready to come on strong for pretty much everything.
