I've got the same problem. Waiting to see what tips you get from our crappie friends here. I have a 18 ft Grizzly Jon. I'm also don't have a livewell. Thinking about building a new section in the middle for more seats and a livewell, and would make a way to keep the rods off the bottom of the boat. This will definetly be summer project for me.

Get you a set of these and you will be fixed and ready to go.

Plus you can turn them while fishing to get them out of your way. You can also get these to mount so you can stand your rods up while fishing.

If you decide to go with the tip savers check out monk's crappie.com as they are cheaper. I installed 2 sets on my 19ft targa and I am happy with them.

I dont know if you have rod holders and bases installed but if so you can also consider adding your rod holders right to the T-bars. Mine are made from PVC pipe and T's, spray painted black and attached with hose clamps.

I just bought a set from Monk also. They work great and keep 8 rods(per set) untangled and safe.

I like the simplicity and usefulness of these rod holders. Your idea, or did you borrow from another? It's well thought out, they fold down when not in use too. Very cool!
