Thread: Broadwater Today

I was able to sneak away today and went to Broadwater.. It wasn't the best day, but it was enough to keep my interest up today.

I caught 10 Crappie, 5 nice keepers with 3 going about 1 1/4 pounds. The throw backs being 9"... 3 keeper brim and 1 Mollie.. Also 5 large Mud fish all about 2 1/2 foot long.. The brim were caught on cricketts and everything else on minnows, Not a thing on jigs.... Odd....

There were only 4 boats in Broadwater today... One Bass fishing and he had 5keepers 2 1/2 to 3 pounds out of 10 he caught.. The other boat caught a nice mess of Jack fish with some in the 3 pound range. And the other boat got skunked...

A few of us are planning a fishing and camping trip to Broadwater the first part of Thanksgiving week, maybe 4 days ... if anyone wants to join in. Weather permitting !!!

Hey Gerald - Glad to see you were able to get back down to the swamp. Hadn't heard much from you lately. Sounds like it won't be long before the fishing really picks up in Broadwater. I will probably be down that way for a few days during the week of Thanksgiving, so pass along the details as time gets closer and I will try to stop by the camp. -Toad

I ain't much on the camping thing but If you do I'll come by and see ya maybe we can fry a fish or something.

And if you want to see the other side of the swamp like we talked last year let me know they seem to be bitting on that side also.

where is broadwater located

broadwater is a lake off the santee river easy to find with a map, but be careful if you leave broadwater by otter flats or indigo flats you can get lost real easy.i have been fishing
this area for 25 years and still get turned around sometimes especially in the indigo flats part

About 9 miles up the river from Santee and off the east side of the river about 3 miles.

The half moon area at the top of the page and the creek leading all the way from the river is known as Broadwater...

i am usually fishin every other day i have a trailer at packs landing near toadrunner though i have yet to meet him but i will probably see you there i will be in a 15 wareagle boat with 25 merc the merc has crappie decals all over it. i usually have a black lab in the boat with me.
