me, davey, travis and ot went up the lake last night and set up in catawba creek. the water temp was 73.4. the bite was on the slow side and we caught most of our fish the middle two hours of our stalk. we started at 7:30 and fished till midnight. we caught some pretty nice crappie. we had a dozen or more heavies and the rest was average to smallish. i noticed like eric did, the bite seemed to be better when the moon come up. strange since we felt the moon killed the bite the other night and tonight it seemed to help. we caught several thugs that made a mess out of things and one that davey horsed through the rods without a mess. i held my breath figuring id finally get to see one of the 9 ft crappie rods claim that case of beer im offering to anyone who breaks one with a fish on. he had that rod bent almost in a complete circle trying to keep that thug out of his and ots rigs. then ot had a heavy weght thug run back under the boat and get in all of travis rigs on the opposite side of the boat. poor travis was settin there minding his own business and wound up in the biggest tangle of the night... i keep my scissors handy. if hed headed back my way i was gonna do a quick release on him. ot caught a big white perch that was eat up with something. it was disgusting looking. i took a photo of it and he throwed it back. at show and tell we made a few photos and at the count we had 33 crappie, 19 white perch and 10 thugs. it was a good night with no wind and slick water.
listen with your eyes---its the only way to beleive what you hear...
