Me and my son Andrew put in at Dutchman's about 7:30 last night and fished till about 11. The crappie bite was slow at first and then completely died when the wind layed down and the moon came out. The water was like glass and it was warm enought that i never needed a jacket.
All in all, it was still better than it had been all summer for us. We ended up with 6 or 7 good crappie with a few being slabs, 3 or 4 smallish white perch and 3 cats with the biggest at about 3 lbs. I will post a few pictures later today.
Fished in 32 ft of water with minows, water temp 72 degrees.

hey toad. we done a nightstalk last night and so did big e. its interesting to note the differences in the bite and conditions tween the two lakes or even different creeks on the same lake.

Yeah it's funny how you can set-up side by side with another boat not even 20 yards away and one boat catch fish and the other get skunked. I even notice sometimes on my boat one side of the boat will catch way more fish than the other side. Speaking of which, last night I fished with the 4ft Hydro-glow (green light) and my son used 2 qbeams. He had me 3 to 1 on bites all night and he always had bait fish around his lights and there was NADA swimming around mine. So much for that $225 light, huh. Good thing it's just on loan from a buddy. I'm still gonna use that light a few more times, but if it don't shape up soon, i may have to do something drastic like give it back to him....
we usually have 3-5 on my boat at night and almost every time someone will have the cold seat, and everything around the board being equal someone will usually have a bad night compared to everyone else. its tough to be in that seat for the night but it happens and beleive me on my boat, the man in the cold seat gets a lot of flak from the rest of the crew.. things change from night to night, and even davey, as good as he is at seeing the bite gets the cold seat occasionally. i used to fish with a guy that would get mad and pout when he got the cold seat. some folks take it way to seriously.![]()

the real bad part is when your fishin by yourself and your in the cold seatand you start pouting.
Hahaha... I think I'm going to get a chance thursday night to go give them a try but looks like the wind is gonna blow.

MY heroes wear kevlar vests embossed with the Eagle, Globe and Anchor
we keep a well stocked med chest on the beast for those that think like that.Originally Posted by Carl Palmer

Hey Thumper - I didn't talk to anyone who said one way or the other about the striper bite. Everybody is talking about crappie. I can tell you that I was the only boat put in at Dutchman's landing last night and I didn't see another boat on the water the whole time we were there. I also didn't see any bait fish schooled up but it might be that they are further down the lake towards Colonel Creek or around the Dam. I am planning another crappie nightstalk Friday night out of Colonel Creek landing and I will let you know if I run across any good striper reports.
Thanks Toad, if I don't work this weekendOriginally Posted by ToadRunner
