Wylie report 10/09/06
Bam and I went last night and tried Crowders creek. We didn't get set up until about 8:00 and waited for a while for crappie bite to start. We caught plenty of channels and blues in the 2-4 lb range and Bam caught one channel that was atleast 11 or 12 lbs which is nice for Wylie. An odd thing happened last night , the crappie bite never showed up for us until after the moon came up over the horizon and shined on the water. After that the bite picked up a bit and we caught around a dozen or so nice crappie.Didn't catch any small crappie but the small white pearch were everywhere.Didn't count the fish last night but I'd say a dozen crappie eight or nine channels and blues and probably close to two dozen white pearch all smallish. That moon thing had me puzzled as I am used to the exact opposite happening. It was however a beautiful night with hardly no winds and the water temp was 71.3 when we left.I talked to Rango and he said they had a slowish bite in Catawba but it sounded like they did much better than us.I'm sure he'll tell us the story here shortly.
