Got out to Wylie on Tuesday nite. Decided to fish the lower end of the lake Fished Nivans creek from dark to about 10pm the bite was slow. Decided to move to another spot and had motor trouble, the motor wouldnt take the fuel, all it would do is a fast idle without cutting out. Decided to head in, long ride to the back of Little Allison @ 5mph. But it gave me time to look at the lights and stuffWorked on it all day today and Im not getting anywhere, Was looking forward to fishing the upper end tonight, Well maybe tomorrow Nite

my motor started making a different sound yesterday as we was settin up for our nightstalk. i held my breath when we got ready to go, hoping it would crank. it cranked and run ok so hopefully it is ok.
listen with your eyes---its the only way to beleive what you hear...
Sure hope you don't gets any engine trouble.. Bad thing!! I however DO have a theory on what could be causing itOriginally Posted by rango

Chances are its the power pack. This unit steps up the spark and times the engine with the fuel requirements. When an engine idles but doesn't want to take gas, most time by flooding or choking down, the power pack has failed.
Try running a compression check and see if you have about 120 pounds per cyl. It is a possibility a valve may be seized or broken. Hope not, but could be?Originally Posted by stump grinder
Please keep us informed we all could use some extra knowledge when we have problems like this or at least I know I could.

I had a similar problem with my Johnson motor recently. It sounded as if a plug was fouled but when the motor was cold it would run fine but for a few minutes. I tried everything including changing the fuel line and bubble. It turned out either the low or no oil sensor is going bad. All I have to do is unhook a wire leading to the sensor and the motor runs like its supposed to. I know how you feel about having to go across the lake at 10 MPH-It's not fun.
Good luck with the motor!
Here is a list of things I have already Tried:
Compreson is 125 on top, 132 on bottom
I have a good spark on both plugs, both will jump about 1''
checked each plug to see the spark coming thru it
getting fuel into the cylinder
swapped the wires on power pack and it still runs on the bottom cylinder
I can remove the plug wire on the top plug and cant notice any change in sound of the motor
I can remove the wire from the bottom plug and it will die.(that is why I think the top is dead?)
I removed the oil injection earlier this week by unhooking the harness to the the oil pump and plugging the oil line. Then premixed my fuel.
I am getting alot of (fuel-oil) out the exhuast like it is just running thru the cylinder with-out being burned.
Any suggestions would be wecomed![]()

This is also a Johnson motor. are you talking about th 2 wires going into the external oil tank, if so I have unplugged them and made no differanceIt seems to run ok till I try to give it the fuel and it starts surging.
Thanks SG
