Default The Hill was slow today, but

Got on the lake by 6 this morning and fished til 10:30. The water was 87 and the fish wasn't wanting to bite. Lots of bait, maybe they were shallow like bowman found them the other day he fished. Boated 9 crappie total with 6 keepers. Here is a pic of the biggest one for today. Another pic to show that small fish like cranks too!

William, I met you friend Wendall. Nice guy and I give the fish to him. He said you would get a kick out of hearing someone had to give him fish. He did say he had a couple.

Glad to see you got out on the water again today SH. Even with all the hot weather it's just hard to keep a good man down. Looks like the bite is getting hit or miss (more miss than hit it seems like) during this latter part of the summer but when it cools some youre gonna be all over 'em. It amazes me how those little crappie will hit something so big. I had a couple about choke to death before I could get those roadrunners out of their mouths the other day. Congrats on getting back to what we love and that's catching some more crappie.

Great catch SH! I'd say you got this crankin' thing down now! That's a good fish anytime of the year, but especially right now when it 110 degrees outside!
Hooking up every chance I get!

I should have thought about the full moon last night. It may have played a roll in the fishing being slow. It gets so hot you can't stay long enough to look for them. I know they are hiding!! LOL.

I use 2-8', 2-10' and 2-12'. Today I used two more 8' rods but was using them to test some new cranks. The rods for cranking have more backbone than my longline trolling rods.

Butch I thought I had something wrong with a crank and reeled it in to try and fix it. Was surprised to see that little fish, he tried to fight as I was taking the hook out. I guess he thought he was a big fish!!:D
