Spent many a day hauling hay, working in the fields planting and have done my share of picking cotton too. You can have those day!! We didn't have air condition growing up but now I don't know if I could handle the heat without it. I remember going to the store with .26 cent and coming home with a bag of candy and a cold drink. It was cheap but it was hard times too.

I had my share of picking cotton plowing an old mule smelling them old stinking farts -probly the main reason im broke down as much as i am now- but as strmwalker mentined, the peace God gave this country then-- i would be glad to go back to it. hear is a couple reasons why. I nevre saw an armed guard in school--we were taught to respect outhre peoples things-- we learned Bible verses, we didnt have much but didnt worry that some drug head would break in on us and kill us for it -- we had a gvernment that believed in God and ran this country in His way (which the government we have now wants no part of ) we didnt have ac but we had ph--peaceful hearts -there is more but ill stop there. thanks for reading--- God Bless.

When I was a kid momma locked the screen door when we went outside in the mornings and there was only two times we got back in, at lunch (if you were there) then at suppertime. Wasnt any AC and you werent letting flies in the house! We played out in the hot sun most all of those summer days. I remember sometimes me and my buddy used to go underneath the houses to play to get out of the sun and where it was cooler. Musta got alot of sun when I was a kid. We'd go camping at the beach every summer for two weeks and I dont ever remember getting sunburned while there. All I wore was cut off blue jean shorts, no shirt, no shoes...and I stayed out in the sun all day every day. Only time I can remember putting on a T-shirt down there was after getting rubbed raw under my arms from riding the waves on tire intertubes we took with us to play on. Man! I can still remember how that salt felt in them blisters. But I just cant remember how hot the sun was.

Well I never picked cotton, and from what I've heard I didn't miss anything.
But I didn't get airconditioning untill 1997, and that was because I didn't want my grandson sweating like a stuck pig when he came for a visit.
When I was working I spent all day in 55 degree's the heat would hit you like a ton of bricks when you went outside. Air is nice but it will reuin you, I know it has me.

My grand daddy had an old truck. All winter we went around the county collecting used motor oil in 55 gal drums. In the late spring when we had 8-10 full drums we would take a piece of rain gutter and cap the ends off then knock nail holes in the bottom. We attached the gutter to the back of the old truck with bailing wire. Then we went down the dusty North Georgia roads around home, grand daddy driving as I used a 2 ½ gal. bucket to dip the oil and pour it into the gutter. A couple of weeks after we did this the dusty old roads weren’t so dusty anymore, and my grand daddy was a well appreciated man around the area Ha Ha Ha !
Man I wonder how long I’d be in jail if I were to do that now??? :D
