    Question Greenwood Nightstalk 4/7/10

Burdawg and myself decided to go on a nightstalk. Since we had seen a report from Russell and Burdawg fished Secession the night before we thought a nightstalk report for Greenwood was due.
We picked trying the night bite at twin rivers. With the spawn going on the river channel looked like a good place with us marking some fish on the depth finder.
Well, if you are a cat-fishermen now may be the time to catch some good eating channel cat at night but for us crappie fishermen it wasn't a crappie catching night.
Was wanting to set up in 20 to 25' depth but had to pick a spot only 16' deep that was around 5' off the river channel. Water was 69 degrees and as clear as Greenwoods has been lately. Bait for the night were small minnows tightlined from 14' deep up to 5' deep. Had bites in deep and shallow deeps.
The smaller white perch moved into our lights and some channels cats all close to 2 pounds. The channel cats was a lot of fun fighting em on the lite tackle Had a couple that broke the lines after fighting em a little, about sure they were cats too.
Final catch was 3 croppie (to small to be called crappie):D 5 white perch and 3 channel cats.
Not big numbers or any keepable crappie but it was a great night to be fishing. We only had maybe 30 to 45 minutes of calm water to fish with all the boat traffic. I know we missed some bites and had a few minnows took without us knowing. When the water did calm down we were over took by the pollen.
Never did pull any bait fish to the under water light that we could see but the fish were feeding all around the boat so some bait were coming in.
The night bite will be getting better and hope to see more nightstalks reports come in from lake Greenwood.
    Enjoyed it Kieth

And I used to think that nightstalking was what filled the freezer.

J/K Once the fish leave their spawning grounds it should be on until summer time gets here and the water gets plain HOT. Good report Ronnie. It's always fun to get out on the water with friends.

I know whatcha mean because there is almost constant boat traffic at Twin Rivers. You mightve made out better going to the train tressel by the Shriners club there for a nightstalk. Theres alot of brush and I picked up some nice bites under the lights during the summertime over there.

The first thing I noticed about the nightstalk I went on the other night...BUGS! No worries since I had my thermacell, but that's something you aint used to nightstalking when it'd done during the winter months. I really missed the nite bite this past winter.

Ronnie--I enjoyed it as well, the fish have to win every once in a while-or we'd lose interest.

Beagler--You might want to bring a bodyguard with you to the fest........
