    Default What is an oxbow?

    Just read of others talking about an oxbow. Could someone tell me what an oxbow is that's above my head. I have never heard of it, i'm thinking it's what i consider a flat. i'm a country boy that would like to farther his knowledge.

    An oxbow lake is a U-shaped body of water formed when a wide meander from the main stem of a river is cut off to create a lake. This landform is called an oxbow lake for the distinctive curved shape that results from this process.
