    Default Marion Tuesday

Went down to the lake today just basically to look for some duck. Took along a few jigs to try a brushpile or two. In the big water between Polly's Landing and Mill Creek there was about 10,000 birds working the area. (seagulls and cormerants) Watched as they fed and squabbled over dead shad. Marked acre after acre of bait pods with large fish beneath them. I'm assuming those are stripers and cats. Toyed with the jig around them and got broke off once otherwise it was a futile effort. Going to try again Thursday with the proper stuff. Fish were about 16 feet deep on a 24 foot bottom and thick as molasses. I'm pretty excited about the prospects. I think they are there the question is if they are going to feed and is there so much bait in the area can you trick one of 'em. The people next to my house say they have been killing the big blues in the trees out deep and the fishing has been great 'cause of no boaters if you can take the cold. Water temp is 47 degrees and fishing pressure is very light. No report on the crappies but i've got two piles in the deepest parts(which is 28 feet) and i'm trying them soon so if i do any good i'll report. Enjoyed all the posts. Deer hunting been keeping me busy for a little while. Sounds like you guys are having a blast at Wateree.

Was severely disappointed in the amount i saw compared to Thanksgiving. I saw a ton out on the bigwater over Turkey day but couldn't hunt 'em 'cause of work. I went back yesterday to find a way to hunt 'em and they were gone. Weather ,pressure i don't know but they were gone. I expected to see at least a few Ringers but even they were gone. Good luck if you go. I'm gonna shoot a few does for the freezer and medicate myself for the remainder of the year. Kill 'em all because they won't be there tomorrow.
