    Default fishing creek

Has anyone ever fished fishing creek? I called DNR yesterday and asked if it was ever stocked with striper. They said it was I was wondering if anyone has ever had any luck there. Its alot closer for me and a whole lot less boat traffic might be a neglected honey hole.

It usually doesn't get a lot of fishing pressure. I know there are striper in the top end of the Catawba under the Wylie dam, so it stands to reason that DNR would stock fishing creek. Glad to know they are. I know the shad can be thick by the lower dam area. Never tried for striper, but I'm just now getting interested in trying. It's a great crappie water too. I usually end up with bass and catfish, but I fish fo whatever bites.

I have been on Fishing Creek several times. Surprised to hear that it has been stocked with Striper. The water depth on Fishing Creek in comparison to Wateree would be deemed shallow. The deepest I have recorded on the sonar is 35 feet and that was near the dam. It is a hazardous lake for stumps and grounding on submerged islands. Yank did DNR report that it has recently been stocked, annually stocked or etc. There is only one decent boat access I think, that is on the Lancaster side. The one on the Chester side is very rocky and can damage a boat bottom.

She said that it was stocked at the hwy 9 bridge which from what I understand is bout half way between the wyle dam and fishing creek and I have friend that have caught striper in Landsford canal. I have a map that says that the water gets to 51 feet, If Thumper doesnt do well on thurs. I might fish it on Fri.

ive never fished fishing creek, but i have a map of the lake and it shows water depth ranging from the 60's to the 40's from the dam to about a mile up lake, then drops off into 30's and shallower to the river at the upper end. I have a friend that caught a 24 lb striper below the wylie dam a few years ago casting a bucktail. the dnr is always giving a striper report for the water below the wylie dam so they must feel theres a fishable population of em in that area

Yup, deepest water I have found in fishing creek is 35 ft by the dam. It must have silted up a good bit since that map was made. I have the same map at home that shows it a lot deeper than it is. Lots of wood, stumps, and islands. The ramp on the Chester side is really nice with dual ramps and a dock. The HWY nine ramp is very steep with a huge trailer swallowing drop off on each side. The Bear Creek landing isn't too bad, but it is one ramp and you have to beach your boat on the rocks.
Seems like the striper would stock up below Landsford during the spawning run if they are stocked. There is a nice deep pool onthe Lancaster side of Landsford that I've been wanting to fish. There is a nice little chute that drops you into the pool if you are coming down in a canoe. The ranger there said the pool runs around 15 ft deep. May have to take the yak up there and play around a bit within the next few days.

    Default New landing

Fishing creek has a new landing on the Hwy. 21 side (Great Falls side). It is a nice landing with alumium floating dock.

Sounds like they upgraded the landing. Last time I used it, I had to back all four tires out in the water just to get the boat off the trailer.
