Well thats good to hear. I'm thinking of taking by daughters next week on day they're out of school and when I'm not duck hunting then I take one day and give them a try. We where talking at work one night this week it ought to be getting started soon; the schooling and jig bit. So congrads on the fish'n and hope you stay on'em all winter long.
If you don't get hung every-once-n-a-while you ain't jigg'n it right..:D
Was there alot of people out there? Might have to take a trip down there. Any size to them? Got any good spots?
Only 1 other boat with me this morning--and yes This was 1 of my favorite spots--I have been doing this kind of Striper fishing for many years.I have been keeping a fishing log for many years and I go by that log and time of year and conditions.![]()

dont you love it when the birds start pointin em out to you. weve been down to wateree a good bit lately.and still havent got into any schooling fish. last year this time we was killin em. were not actively looking for em tho. we got live bait in the water drifting and keeping our eyes peeled for the birds.. i got a feeling if i could have been on the water yesterday at wateree, something would have happened. with your record keeping, maybe you can tell me how long they will be schoollin on the surface. whats the water temp get to before they stop? last time i was at wateree it was 52 degrees. with all this cold the past few days its probably below 50 nowOriginally Posted by SCCRAPPIE
listen with your eyes---its the only way to beleive what you hear...
Hi buddy--as far as how long Stripers will school--I have seen them school all the way up into Febuary--Murray Stripers do a thing what we call Boiling down here. They dont splash the water--they just make the water Boil.It has been a lot of hit and miss on Murray--1 day you wear them out--the next nothing.I went back this morning and nothing--only thing changed was wind--yesterday wind was out of west.Today it was out of NE.The birds were there and bait was there.I have been told by the older Striper Fisherman on Murray is they will feed every 3 days. And yesterday the sun was bright and today cloudy?????????? LOL![]()
