    Default Prop Repair

Monday as I was headed down the river, I spun a prop. I was able to limp back to the landing. Luckly I wasn't but about 3 blocks down the river. Normally I would have pulled over to a spot that In could back the rear end into the bank and got out a changed it. But the water was at the flood stage and there wasn't any spots to get out on...

Had I really been down the river I would have made a spot some how and I would have been a mess myself, but then you do what you have to in times like that.

Our only prop repair shop around here has closed up, not that they were that good at it. Messed up a couple of mine and I know of some others. Do any of you know of any good repair shops that can do a Yamaha 40...

    Try Carolina Propeller Repair

2939 Lynwood Drive, Lancaster, S.C. --- a few people I work with said they were reasonable on price. There is also one in Columbia-I'm not sure on the Phone #

Steve Carter, Custom Welding & Fabrication, 900 N. Lucas St. behind Mid-Carolina Marine, bought out Hydro Tech and hired their prop man (I think.) Steve also makes some rodholders and fabs boat railings, T-Tops, etc., but I hear he has become expensive. Get an estimate! Lol Pinetuck

Thanks to all that gave me leads.

Carolina Prop in Lancaster were real nice on the phone and said they could do it while I waited and the price would be $35 to $37...

I decided to call Custom Welding, since they had done some welding on my old boat. Their workmanship on it was just superb.

They said that it would run $47 and I could wait.... Since they are about 2 miles from the house, I'm going with them. But for you guys that are close to Lancaster, don't forget Carolina Prop..

The reputation of Hydro Tech had gone down hill the last couple of years and the guys I know had quite taking their work there.

If it doesn't ice up tomorrow, I'll take it over and get it taken care of. That 12pitch that came on that motor lets that 40, 4 stroke turn up to 6300 RPM and I don't like that. The 14 pitch keeps it at 5700 and adds about 6-8 MPH and sounds much quiter also.
