Thread: Troll Motor Problems

does any one know anything about a V-2 auto pilot? motor works but won't turn with remote or foot pedal. had no problem in Nov 09 last time out but today the dang thing would work right. replaced the batty. in the remote and no change. remote and foot control would turn motor on but not make it turn left or right. any help is needed as want to go out again tomorrow.

Hey Jiggs, copy this and post it on the electronics board. Those guys should be able to get you going.

Hope you get that fixed, I know I have seen others talking about this but don't remember what the fix was.

I have seen this same problem posted in the electronics forum, but like SH I can't remember what the fix was. I know one thing was to check the trolling motor battery.

Jiggs my V2 did the same thing...it was the steering motor in it...Fishermans Friends fixed me up for $97.00.

hope it won't cost me anything if it is the steering motor as my unit is about 7 months old. going to try to push the reset today. forgot it had one. but if it don't work will stop by place where purchased and talk with those folks. thanks for giving me a place i can take it to get fixed if needed.

This has happend to me a couple of times after a long sit. I just completely removed power 2 or three times and it started working again. One time it started beeping and carying on and wouldn't do anything. Removing power and back on again fixed it too. I think it took 2 times also. May not work with yours but it's worth a try to save 97 bucks.

Are you sure it isn't frozen in place? It was cold out this morning, just a little rain water and the cold night could stop it short.

Thanks Fishin Addiction. went out to the boat this pm and unpluged the TM and pluged it back up and it went crazy for a few seconds. unpluged it again to see if the same would happen and it did. set motor down in holer and tried to turn it and was really surprised to it turn. now what do i owe except a good report on the lake this next week.:D:D
