Thread: Russell?

Has anyone fished, or seen the water clarity on Russell? I am especially curious about the water in Allen Creek, Bond Creek, Van Creek etc..

I havent even rode by Russell in a week or two now. Sorry...wished I could help you out. Might take a ride today and report back later.

CFC, took a little ride around part of Russell and from what I saw Coldwater is clear enough to fish at the bridge near the park. Looking off the bridge at the riprap it looked like you could see 2' deep although the water still has a stain to it. It was stained back up in the mouth of the creek but from what I saw it looked like you could see almost a foot deep there. Rode on over to Little Vans (the bridge you see from the rowing dock in Vans Cr.) and the water looked the same as it does off the Ruckersville bridge at the park on CWC too. In my opinion...plenty fishable. Vans should be more clear the closer you get to Savannah River. I left there and rode to the bridge that crosses Beaverdam, the last bridge going up the creek, and it was more stained with not much visibility off the bridge looking at the riprap. I'd guess the water would be clearer below the Pearl Mill bridge although I didnt ride down to it. Those narrow bridges seems to hold back alot of the muddy water most of the time. If you get a chance to go, be sure to report about lake conditions and how you did. Good luck.

Well, let's see....deer season here is over in 2 days and I'm retired (right now anyways) so there aint much else to do but fish so we'll find out soon if the rain and wind holds off some.
