Thread: Questions about Monticello.

I got a chance to ride by there last week. Has anybody had trouble launching at the double ramp on the north end? I looked at the single ramp right off HW215 and I don't think I could launch there cause it was way too shallow. I've also heard there are lots of un marked shallow spots out in the main lake. It would be 87miles one way for me if I try it, never fished it. Can someone make some recomindations on winter time catfish? Bait Shops? (one on HW215 right before HW34). Any help appriciated!

If it the some part i went to last year it had a pier next to the ramp. I went down the ramp next to the pier and trailar drop off the ramp and broke my axle.

Use the single ramp at the upper landing site, off to your right as you go in. It is by far the best one on the lake. The double one is sloped too shallow for a boat, you have to back half way out into the lake to get your boat off of its trailer. In that lake a shallow spot is 15’ of water, you don’t have to worry about running aground unless your way back up in a cove. Don’t know about catfish but we used to tear the Crappie up this time of year at night.
