    Default Minnow Tank

I drained, bleached and scrubed by stock tank about 3 weeks ago, let it air out then a couple of weeks ago I bought 10 Dozen minnows and put in it.
So far I have had only 1 die :D About every 2 days i go down and drain about half the water out and let it fill back up. Seems to be working good so far. So I'm off Saturday to buy a couple pound of minnows.

Sorry Ronnie I won't be giving you anymore that I have left.:D

Well I was glad to give my minnow to you rather then dump them in the lake. A couple of years ago I paid $1.25 a dozen which wasn't to bad.
But now there $1.80 a dozen and when you retire you got to try and cut a corner here and there.

WOW I've been paying $2.50 a doz. for med. when I buy them.
I try to catch threadfin when I can. I keep a round tub on the dock and run lake to it with an aquarium pump to keep them alive.
Does this guy in Anderson sell more than one size? I'd like to try some large. The crappie seem to like the larger threadfins much better than the meds. I get from the bait shop.

Timmy, that's one size that I have never inquired about. I get alot of mediums from him. Theyre about 2" long. And the count per lb. on mediums is @ 18 doz to the lb. The small are @ 1.5" and the count is @ 22 doz. per lb. He's probably got the large (if there's much demand for them) but I've never looked for them. His place is a stone's throw from Harper's Meat Market.

I'll have to check with him if he is there tomorrow. I know that when I'm fishing with the med. minnows and have the some of the 2.5-3 inch shad the shad catch fish 2 to 1 over the smaller minnows and the fish are much larger on the shad.

How do you keep the shad alive long enough to fish with 'em? I've foul hooked a couple on nightstalks and caught fish with 'em, but other than that I have never tried actually catching and using 'em.
