Thread: Hartwell Striper 11/4/09

It was looking like one of those awful days but I was fooled. Had plans on getting to the lake before sunrise but one thing after another was going wrong and we finally made it at 8:30. Fished the Clemson area and had the first line in at 9 am. Water temp was 66. I bought a pair of waterbugz planer boards to try out after hearing so many good things about them and having no luck with my current boards. Let me tell you, they are the real deal. My other boards are worthless compare to these. Most of the fish we caught were on the waterbugz. We also caught fish on freelines and downrods. We had action here and there until 3pm, when we left. We ended up catching 10 hybrid and 4 striper. We missed probably a dozen fish as well. It was beautiful on the lake and hardly any wind at all. The pics are my buddy josh with his first ever striper and my buddy don with a nice hybrid.

Great report! I got some days off comin up next week and I think I might hit the water for some stripes. Where did you buy the waterbugz from, cuz I got some of those yellow planer boards and have never had any luck with em!

Cleon, was you pulling herring on those boards? I bet your buddy that caught his first striper was surprised at the pulldown from those stripers. Congrats on a good day on the water with friends.
