Just a friendly survey,
I think anything other than a fishing boat is a waste of fiberglass. Anyone agree?

Well Brett...I'll tell ya. I'm 52 yrs old so when I get in a boat nowadays it's for fishing. BUT...back in my younger years I'd hit the lakes EVERY weekend on both, Saturdays and Sundays waterskiing, tubing, trick skis, wake boards, etc.,etc from daylight to dark. Back in the day I loved fishing as much as I do now but to save my life I couldnt figger out what all them old geezers were doing fishing after the lake water had gotten so hot. Well, now I AM old of those ole geezers.![]()
I know young folks and families with children are going to be out in full force once the water gets warm enough but I just dont let them bother me nearly as much as they used to. I dont even blame them since I can remember how much fun me and the guys and girls had back in my younger years. That's just another reason I like wintertime fishing the best.

Yea, I guess it's their turn now. Sure was fun out there wasting gas, but gas was a heck of a lot cheaper in 1974, and minimum wage was around .75
Anyone remember when pretty much the only light on Lake Wateree at night in the winter was at the State Park?
Maybe now that I'm 58 yrs old I'd say pleasure boats are a waste of Fiberglass, But I;ve had a lot of fun days out riding around, water skiing and having a heck of a good time. Spending a day on the water if your fishing or just pleasure boating is hard to beat.:D

No
the pleasure boats have as much right as the fishing boats to be on the water, no matter what they are made of. unfortuantly both boat groups have some operators that is the problem that id like to see something done about.
listen with your eyes---its the only way to beleive what you hear...
well brother, if you see me out there feel free to toss some polite guidance my way. I've found the learning curve to be huge with some folks being very helpful with others just being outright rude/ignorant. I tend to believe that most folks want to do the right thing but haven't had the benefit of being told even when it might be obvious (like not driving the jetski at 10mph through the boat landing no wake zone).
I'm still confused on the boat rules. I was approaching the boat landing, had a guy in a green jon boat rigged hard with fishing stuff coming in to the landing from my left. The book says the boat on the left is the "give way" boat but he's yelling at me to watch where I'm going???? Maybe if he had taken a minute to ask if I needed some help (which I did) and gotten to know me things could have been different.
Anyway.. I ended up with a fiberglass bowrider because I took my lovely bride with me to buy the boat. I wanted a simple fishing boat with trimmings but ended up with a 17' deepv I/O bowrider style boat. I intend to do all the fishing I can with it.

Communication is the key but I agree, there are some out there who need some schooling. There is another group downright rude but that doesn't really have a cure except a citation or two. I would like to know if anyone else is having trouble with the wakes generated by the huge boats at the BBB landing. If you are not careful you can have the lower unit of your motor damaged when you try to put in by yourself. I hate making new rules/laws but it seems the no wake zone needs some extenson or better enforcement. I personally witnessed 3 footers crashing the landing last night around dark. It is kinda hard to hold a boat to take out or put in in those conditions. Ebeneezer has some of the same action at times.
Nivins is where the jetskiers were![]()
